Short chip-to-chip times reduce component costs – the VT 4 turning machine makes it possible to efficiently implement demanding processes into shaft production. Using four axis machining, workpieces are simultaneously processed from both sides.

Workpiece grippers on the two turrets take the vertically positioned raw parts from a conveyor belt into the tooling zone. Each turret is equipped with eleven additional tooling positions for turning or driven tools. The vertical alignment of the component ensures consistent process integrity, with free chip flow preventing the generation of chip clusters in the machining area. While one gripper loads a new raw part into the machine, the other removes the finished component.

This changeover process takes only six seconds, depending on the part.
