The VT 4-4 makes it possible to directly implement demanding machining processes in shaft production.

VT 4-4 turning machines are used for the machining of shafts of up to 1,050 mm length and 200 mm diameter.

Due to extremely short chip-to-chip times, using these turning machines to manufacture shafts quickly reduces component costs. Workpiece grippers transport the raw-parts into the turning machine, then remove them again after completion of the machining process. These changeover times can be as short as 6 seconds. The actual machining process is also very fast, as the workpiece is machined simultaneously from both sides, using a 4-axis machining process. The vertical alignment of the workpiece ensures consistent process integrity, with free chip flow preventing the generation of chip clusters in the machining area.
